Bio

Robert Stryk works at the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). UNRWA is a direct service delivery Agency, where its more then 30 000 regular staff provide health, education, social services, microfinance and infrastructure to more than five million registered Palestine refugees. In addition UNRWA is providing emergency assistance to Palestine refugees in West Bank, Gaza, Lebanon and Syria.

Since July 2012 he is the Chief of the relatively recently established Evaluation Division in UNRWA. Prior to this he has worked as Coordinator for Programme Support, responsible for strategic planning and programming of UNRWA operations for five years.

Throughout his 18 year career in development he spent most of his time in either planning or evaluation with intervals of implementing projects. His work spanned high level planning exercises such as supporting governments in the development of their PRSP / MDG papers to evaluating grass roots initiatives dealing with community development of indigenous groups. Within the UN System he worked for UNDP, ILO and UNRWA, but also worked for bilateral donors, INGOs, development banks, consulting companies, the private sector and EU institutions.

Robert Stryk is an economist by training and graduated from the Rheinische Friedrich Willhelms University in Bonn.
