Global Evaluation Week

Overview

On November 23-27 2015, 450+ leaders of the global evaluation community came together in Kathmandu – Nepal to celebrate the Global Evaluation Week, in culmination of EvalYear’2015 activities and the final journey of the evaluation torch which was relayed during more than 80 EvalYear events all over the world.

The Global Evaluation Week made history on November 25 when the Global Evaluation Agenda 2016-2020 was launched at the Parliament of Nepal in a ceremony presided by the Rt. Hon. Speaker of the Parliament in the presence of 100+ Ministers and Parliamentarians from Nepal and all over the world, as well as 400+ leaders from VOPEs, Governments, UN agencies, Multilateral Banks, Private Foundations and other stakeholders.

New EvalPartners networks were also officially launched during the ceremony, with the aim of advancing the implementation of the Global Evaluation Agenda: EvalGender+, EvalYouth, EvalSDGs and EvalIndigenous. Moreover, members of National parliaments from across the globe formally established the Global Parliamentarians Forum for Evaluation, as a natural continuation of the efforts which led to the establishment of regional parliamentarian forums in South East Asia, MENA, Latin America and Eastern Europe in 2014-2015.

Concurrently with the Global Evaluation Week, the Community of Evaluators of South Eastern Asia (CoE SA) organized its 3rd biannual conclave, which was attended by more than 300 delegates and inaugurated by the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister of Nepal. The Conclave participants engaged in 16 skills-development workshops, 26 panel sessions, and three plenary sessions.

The Closing Session of the Global Evaluation Week, had the Hon. Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal as the Chief Guest.

The Global Evaluation Week was made possible thanks to the committed leadership and support of the Government and Parliament of Nepal, leaders of the CoE SA, CoE Nepal and EvalPartners, IOCE and UN Women, and thanks to the generous support of several donors committed to the advancement of evaluation.
