Associate Programme Management Officer, P2 (Temporary Job Opening)

Under the supervision of the Programme Management Officer and within delegated authority, the Associate Programme Management Officer will be responsible for the following duties: 

  • Assist with the planning, development and conduct of assigned projects, such as in-depth, thematic and project evaluations or other ad hoc evaluations or equivalent studies; as well as assist other Divisions in self-evaluation activities against evaluation norms and standards. 
  • Provides substantive support for monitoring and evaluation functions, including the review and analysis of emerging issues and trends, participation in evaluations or research activities and studies. 
  • Participates in survey initiatives; assists with design of data collection tools; issues data collection tools, reviews, analyzes and interprets responses, identifies problems/issues and prepares preliminary conclusions.   
  • Carries out basic research on selected aspects of programmes, operations and other activities, etc., to include collecting, analyzing and presenting statistical data and other information gathered from diverse sources.
  • Provides substantive support for the strengthening of an evaluation and results-based management culture at UNCTAD in coordination with the relevant services and Divisions.
  • Assist with monitoring and reporting on the implementation of Evaluation and Monitoring Unit (EMU) work plan, in order to help ensure the timely completion of planned activities and programming of new activities, while ensuring adherence to evaluation norms and standards. 
  • Contributes to the preparation of various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analytical notes, sections of reports, studies and newsletters, inputs to publications, etc.
  • Undertakes outreach activities; participates in the development of training workshops, seminars, etc.; participates in and makes presentations on assigned topics/activities.
  • Provides administrative and substantive support to field missions, EMU recruitment activities and meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying and proposed participants, preparation of background documents and presentations, handling logistics, etc.
  • Performs other duties as required.
