Adaptation Fund
The Adaptation Fund was established under the Kyoto Protocol of the UNFCCC, and now also serves the Paris Agreement.
The Adaptation Fund is supervised and managed by the Adaptation Fund Board (AFB) which meets at least twice a year. The AFB Secretariat, hosted by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) provides support to the Board. The World Bank serves as the Trustee.
The Adaptation Fund Board has had legal capacity in the Federal Republic of Germany, since 1 February 2011.
The Adaptation Fund Board comprises 16 members and 16 alternates. representing Parties to the Kyoto Protocol. A majority of members (about 69 percent) represent developing countries.
Evaluation Function
The AF-TERG is an independent evaluation advisory group (four members and a Chair), accountable to the Board. The AF-TERG provides independent evaluation, advisory, and oversight functions to the Fund. Evaluation priorities are within set within a multi-year work programme and budget that are approved by the Board.
